Co-founded and co-directed Ensaaf, a strategic and innovative international nonprofit that changed the narrative on crimes against humanity in India. Over 20 years, I co-designed innovative programs that documented 1000s of abuses and led to the convictions of police officers. I built the operations infrastructure and established strong financial systems and revenue streams, growing a global remote team of up to 2 dozen people. I developed new partnerships with international organizations.

Ensaaf
Co-designed and co-implemented the largest crimes against humanity documentation project in India across 12,000 villages, including 24 local fieldworkers, 10,000+ interviews, and the documentation of 5,300 cases of disappearances or unlawful killings. I then co-designed the architecture of a unique interactive data visualization site, mapping cases across time and space, linking perpetrators, providing key statistics, and sharing victim profiles. I prepared several dossiers on key perpetrators, tracking direct and indirect responsibility.

Physicians for Human Rights
Organized a landmark torture and trauma study with PHR and Bellevue/NYU School of Medicine on 127 families affected by enforced disappearances in Punjab. The study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Open Books
Organized a focus group of educators, mental health practitioners, district librarians, and others to develop a diverse list of 13 middle school LGBTQ+ books from authentic voices. Partnered with 415 schools, reaching 200,000+ students with 5000+ LGBTQ+-affirming books.

Implemented staff onboarding, project management systems, and financial policies. Developed accounts policies and systems to prepare for the first audit, set up a new donor CRM, and drafted $1 million+ budget and cash flow projections.

Developed SLAY Loans’ inaugural two-year strategic plan, and then plugged that into SLAY’s first successful grant application to fund its first year of operation.

Strategic Litigation Support
Provided strategic litigation support to cases advancing human rights norms in India, leading to life sentences for several police officers and establishing legal precedent on reparations.
